How AtracFleet works

New Atrac customers are issued a username and password giving them instant 24/7 access to their entire fleet from anywhere in the world.

The AtracFleet system works in any normal web browser, without having to download or install any extra software. If you have a reasonably modern PC and access to the Internet, you already have everything you need, and you can begin working with the AtracFleet system immediately.

If you'd like our detailed reports sent to you automatically, you'll need to tell the AtracFleet system your email address as well.

What it looks like

Here's some examples of the AtracFleet system in action:
               

Constant updates

The AtracFleet system constantly receives data from your assets. When the engine is running or your vehicles are moving around, the AtracFleet system provides you with new information on their condition and location every two minutes. Even when the vehicle is parked with the engine off, the Atrac system still checks once every hour to make sure everything is OK.

If your vehicle leaves cellular coverage temporarily, the Atrac system automatically fills in all the missing data as soon as it comes back into range.

Reporting

The AtracFleet system provides a variety of detailed reports. Nearly all of the reports are available as PDF documents or Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Most reports can select a group of vehicles, or focus on a specific vehicle.

Site activity

The Site Activity report shows when vehicles arrive and leave sites, and how long and how often they stop at those sites, and can be used to calculate invoices for services.

Speeding

Fleet managers can use this report to highlight speed violations by vehicles or drivers for any given time range. It uses the speed reported in every vehicle position update to determine speed violations, and can be used to track fleet safety issues, reduce fuel use, and accurately assign speeding tickets to the responsible person.

Trip summary

This report provides fleet managers a summary of all activity for the selected vehicles within a specified time range.

Breadcrumbs

The Breadcrumbs feature shows the exact route taken by a vehicle during a given time range, and is based on every update sent by the device in the vehicle.

Off Road Usage Refund

The "Off Road Usage Refund" report provides a list of off road or private road travel.  This information can be used to fill in the "Road User Charges Application for Refund for Off Road Travel" form available from Land Transport New Zealand.  (Please note, that this report must be archived for two years for audit purposes.)


You can show any of these reports, plus many others, within the AtracFleet system at any time. You can also have your choice of reports emailed to you or your staff automatically at the same time every day. For urgent reporting, the AtracFleet system will email you reports of urgent events as soon as they happen.

Other features

Maintenance alerts
When you log in, the AtracFleet system provides scheduled maintenance alerts for your vehicles, based on mileage travelled, elapsed time or equipment operating hours. This allows the accurate scheduling of service intervals and warrant of fitness checking and reduces unexpected failures in the field.

Google Earth integration
For stunning visual presentation of fleet and asset movements, the AtracFleet system offers a one-click interface to Google Earth, a free application featuring satellite imagery, aerial photography and road data superimposed onto a virtual 3D globe.


Data export
Data in the AtracFleet system can be extracted for use in your own applications through the use of the AtracFleet industry-standard web services API. Authorised applications on Microsoft and other platforms can easily register and request data about your fleet via the SOAP protocol.

Accuracy
The AtracFleet system returns data accurate enough to show you the closest street address to the vehicle's actual location. On a monthly basis, the odometer information is usually over 97% accurate, and is 99% accurate under optimal conditions.

Buying AtracFleet

The AtracFleet system costs between $2 and $3 per vehicle per day. This covers connection to the Vodafone mobile data network, the hardware rental and a login to the AtracFleet system, with access to the high resolution mapping data and the standard reports. There is a minimum rental period of 36 months.

Finally, the cost of installing the hardware varies between vehicles, but is rarely more than $160 per vehicle. Atrac can assist you by organising installation with skilled service providers in your local area.
